Nearly 350,000 New York City kids and their families don't always have enough to eat. You can help by skipping lunch on May 14 and donating what you would normally spend to City Harvest, a non-profit food-rescue program founded in 1982. Five dollars can help feed four children for a week, $10 can help feed two children for a month, and $25 can help feed two children for the entire summer.

You can even sign up with a team of co-workers to take part in the one-day initiative. If you're one of the top 10 fundraising teams, you'll get your company logo on the official City Harvest Skip Lunch truck for six whole months, as well as a thank you in an ad in The New York Times. Plus, all teams that raise over $2,000 will be entered into a raffle for a chance to receive an exclusive cooking demo at the Institute of Culinary Education, while teams that raise over $1,500 will be entered into a raffle for 10 dinners for two. ::City Harvest
