You've already learned how to multiply numbers. It's not really hard, is it? Some numbers are easier to multiply. But what if you're given greater (larger) numbers to multiply? When dealing with greater numbers, there's an easier way to multiply. Numbers can be multiplied by tens. Let's learn how.
It's easy to multiply tens numbers. The first thing you need to remember is that any number multiplied by zero equals zero. Five times zero equals zero. Nine times zero equals zero. One hundred times zero equals zero. So when you do a column multiplication with a tens number, always remember to write a zero in the ones place (ones column). Look at how it is written below.

After that, we multiply the tens digit. What is 4 x 2? It's 8. Write down the digit 8 in the tens place (tens column). So what do we have? It's 80. 4 times 20 equals 80 (4 × 20 = 80). See how easy that was? Look at how the problem was solved in the equation below.
