For this activity, you will be working with reciprocals. You will need a piece of paper, a pair of dice, and a pen or pencil. The object of the activity is to find reciprocals of fractions. Then we will use reciprocals to multiply.

First, roll the dice. The number you roll will be the top number (numerator) of your fraction. Write it on your paper. Now roll again for the bottom number (denominator). You have your first fraction. Write the reciprocal next to the fraction you found.

Say you rolled 1 the first time and 6 the second time. You will write down . What's the reciprocal? It's . Write that down.

Keep rolling the dice to create more fractions. Can you write the reciprocals for all the fractions you rolled? Soon you will have a list of fractions.

Now we'll try to multiply. Pick one of the fractions or reciprocals from your list. Roll the dice again. Multiply your fraction by the number you rolled.

Say you picked the fraction . You rolled a 2. Multiply .

Keep rolling and multiplying to practice what you've learned!
