For this activity, you will need several sheets of paper, blank cardboard cut into squares, a marker, and a pair of scissors. Using the marker, write the following fractions on a sheet of paper.
57/100
15/100
8/100
97/100
24/100
6/10
9/10
4/10
1/10
8/10
Get a sheet of paper and divide it into strips. Fold the strips ten times. Now you have paper strips divided into ten small squares. Pick a card from the cardboard squares and then color in the squares to represent the fraction. For example, if you get the fraction 3/10, your paper strip will look like this:

Then, on the back of the strip, write its decimal equivalent. In the example, the decimal number equivalent to 3/10 is .3.
How about fractions with a denominator (bottom number) of 100?
Get five pieces of paper and fold each paper ten times horizontally. Fold it again ten times vertically. Now you have 100 small squares. Pick a card from your cardboard square pile and then color in the squares. For example, you get a card that has 20/100. Color in twenty squares to get this:

Then write the decimal equivalent, which is .2, on the back.
