To understand why Web site programming and designing positions are popular jobs to outsource, it's helpful to think of fruits and vegetables -- honestly. During planting and harvest season, farms hire many additional workers to ensure that seeds get in the ground and berries and lettuce get picked before the season changes. The temporary nature of farm work is comparable to the launch and design of a Web site: It comes in short, intense bursts and then is gone, leaving no reason to have full-time employees tending to the crops of HTML and JavaScript.

It should come as no surprise, then, that there are companies that handle the entire process of building and maintaining sites -- information architects, designers, programmers and writers.

Sometimes, companies have a difficult time finding their voice. And that's why they turn to the people we'll talk about on the next page.
